GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q: Where are you located?

 A: I’m based in Palm Harbor, FL and service all of Florida and North Carolina. I will also travel to any Destination to photograph your event or project. 

Q: Do you travel?

A: Yes! I will go wherever my client needs me to be with my camera!

Q: How long have you been a photographer; and what was your source of inspiration to be a photographer?

A: I started photographing back when film was popular, before digital. I worked in the studio darkroom at my High school and developed all of my photos from the rolls of film. When I was in High School I also started photographing small film weddings before digital came around. You really have to know what you are doing (aperture and shutter-shutter-speed) when you learn film because you only get one chance to make sure the photo is taken correctly. Learning the real basics of photographing through film has helped me as a digital photographer as well. My source of inspiration came when I spent alot of my childhood in and out of the hospital. I saw children in the cancer unit dying of cancer and thought that as soon as I was well and able to experience being a kid that I would photograph all of my memories so I would never be able to forget the great things I got to experience in life. My father bought me my first camera and he said; “Did you know that you can be a photographer and make money?” I never know you could do something so fun and get paid!

Q: Do you shoot film, digital or both?

A: Yes

Q: What equipment do you use?

A: I use Canon Digital SLR Bodies 7D, MarkII  and an array of Canon L Series Lenses. It depends on the assignment. My favorite lenses are the 14-40mm, 70-200 lens, 15mm fisheye. It really just depending on the assignment and the vision I have for the session or wedding that I will rent the rest of what I need for a particular project. No two assignments are alike and that is how I like to keep the photos….Unique and One of a Kind!

Q: We definitely want to book you! What is the next step?

A: Give me a call on my cell phone at (727) 742-2971 to see if your desired Wedding or Portrait date is available. If it is available, I will recommend discussing your details over the phone, in person or via Facetime or Skype. Wedding dates are first come, first serve. Whoever puts a deposit down on a day first is guarenteed that wedding day. I say that because often times, especially in the Spring and Fall during the busiest wedding months I will have multiple brides requesting the same day. 

Q: Do you provide partial day coverage? I do not need 8 hours.

A: Yes, I provide coverage from 1 hour to 8 hours. Please contact me with your needs and I will put together a tailored collection for you. 

Q: Do you do destination weddings?

A: Absolutely! I will travel anywhere you need me to travel! My destination rates are affordable and in many cases more affordable than if you were to go to that destination and hire a photographer at that destination. I have saved many brides a couple thousand dollars and I get to travel! It is a win win for the both of us!

Q: Do we have to add albums now or can we order that later?

A: In the age of digital the one thing I have noticed is that people are satisfied with all of the images on a USB; however, I strongly recommend adding on a custom album  at some point before your first anniversary. It is much more tangible to hold an album with your children later than it will be to sit at a computer and scan through photos. I have my parents wedding album from 30 years ago still intact and I enjoy looking at it to this day! It might add on more initially but it will pay for itself every-time you pick it up to enjoy it.

Q: Can I make print’s with the digital files that are included in my package?

A: Yes. All photos will be sent digitally to you and by USB. When you receive your USB it will include a print release that will allow you to print your own photos if you choose to. 

Q: Can I drop a few hours from my package to same some money?

A: Yes. When you plan out what you need with me I will be customizing a package tailored to your wedding. Often times Brides will add on extra hours which you can do too. 

Q: Do you mind that our family takes photos at the wedding and reception?

A: I don’t mind as long as they are respectful. I just photographed a wedding recently where I was photographing the grooms reaction to his beautiful bride walking down the isle and a guest stood up and all I could see in the photo was his iPhone and then I saw the grooms face. The guests cell phone became the focal point of this photo and I sat back at the computer and thought….wow have times changed. I would probably recommend your guests to refrain from taking any photos during the ceremony so that you can be guarenteed the best professional photos.

Q: Does your studio provide videography services?

A: We currently do not, however have excellent recommendations! 

Q: Does your studio photograph family portraits, maternity, newborn, corporate events, headshots, or other?

A: Absolutely! 

STYLE AND QUALITY QUESTIONS

Q: What is your photography style?

A: That is a great question. I would say that I take a photojournalistic approach. What is amazing about my photography when I look at it is I’m photographing often times people that I have NEVER met before. So I have to design a session based on a phone conversation and key things that you say on the phone to kind of give me an idea of who you are, design a session and put a face to the name and immediately create images that reflect your personality as an individual, a family or a couple! I go into photographing each session as though it will be your last photo session. As far as weddings, each wedding collection includes a complimentary Engagement Session. While you are not obligated to do an Engagement Session, it is there so that it gives all of us an opportunity to learn more about one another prior to your wedding.  

 

Q: Do you back up your photos?

A: Yes! I back up all photos in about 5 different places. I never get rid of any photos either so if you have had your photos taken with me, chances are I probably still have your files. I just don’t believe in trashing, deleting or throwing away digital files.

 

POST PRODUCTION QUESTIONS

Q: Do you touch up all of the images that we receive?

A: No. I go through and make sure all of the photos are color corrected properly and make sure they are crisp. I will not go through 1,000 images and take out a line under the eye or smooth out skin. The amount of photos that I take is ridiculously high. If there are certain photos that you would like for me to focus on, I can take care of that for you.

Q: What is the difference between advanced and custom retouching; and why are there additional costs for custom retouching?

A: An example of Custom retouching  would be if you wanted me to take 20-100 pound off of a particular person or swap heads from one photo to the next or paint in bangs or open your lazy eye, give you bigger boobs or paint your hair color a different color, add eye liner on….that kind of thing. With these sort of requests an additional fee of $45 per hour will be requested with a minimum of 2 hours.

 

WEDDING DAY QUESTIONS

Q: How many hours do you suggest we set aside for wedding day photos?

A: I would recommend 1 hour. 15 minutes for family photos and 40-45 minutes for couple photos if photography is of importance to you. Each timeline is different for each wedding. I would have to discuss your wedding details with your further to make the best assessment. 

Q: I have downtime between events on my wedding day. Will I be charged for that downtime?

A: Yes. Downtime does not stop for the photographer until we go home. 

Q: What happens if we go over the contract amount time?

A: I certainly do not look at my watch and count down the minutes or seconds until your contract time is up. I have gone over many times and most times I will not charge to stay. With that being said, if I say my goodbyes to you at the time the contract has ended than  I have genuinely felt that we got EVERY photo imaginable. There are only so many end of the night dancing photos. If you request a couple of hours longer or want to add time to the beginning I advise you of any additional fees. 

Q: Why do we need to charge for additional coverage?

A: With additional hours added to the front end or the back end means A LOT more photos which means A LOT more time editing. 

 

ENGAGEMENT SESSION QUESTIONS

Q: When should we do our engagement session?

A: Sunday Best as far as makeup, hair and outfits. I recommend bringing 2 to 3 outfits so I can have an idea of your style and make recommendations based on our location. 

Q: When can we expect to see our photos from our engagement session?

A: 10-14 working days, in many cases sooner. I will post sneak peaks online prior to hold over your anticipation.

Q: How many images do you typically deliver from an engagement session? A Wedding?

A: Engagement Session: 100-500 images. Anything over 500 is a bonus. Wedding anywhere from 400-1000 images. It just depends on how many hours the wedding is. The more hours, more photos. I have photographed an 8 hour wedding that has had over 2,000 plus photos. No two Engagement Session or Weddings are alike but I do know that no one has ever complained on the amount of photos they were given. I tend to take WAY more photos than I probably should. I just can’t help it though!

Q: Do you provide Save the Date Products, Engagement Sign In Albums and Custom Products?

A: Yes. One of my favorite products is the Engagement Sign In Album! I just love those!

ALBUMS, PRINTS AND PRODUCT QUESTIONS

Q: How long does it take to get my prints?

A: 10-14 working days

Q: How long does it take to get my album?

A: It takes 2 to 3 weeks to design an album and it depends on the album company that you choose. Usually from start to finish its between 8-10 weeks. If you request additional changes to the album layout it will take longer. Also with how busy life can get for the bride and groom understandably,  sometimes I won’t hear back from them and that puts a delay on things too. 

Q: What album companies do you offer?

A: GraphiStudio, Millers Professional Albums, Cypress and Artifact Uprising is a new favorite of mine. If there is a company that you have seen or heard of that you want me to use for your album, please feel free to let me know. Everyone has different styles and there are so many amazing album companies out there. 

Q: How many pages do we get with our wedding day album?

A: 15 pages, 30 sides. That is the standard. For most weddings ,this is all you need; however, if I design an album for a customer and go over 30 sides, it is because I highly recommend it in order to tell your story of your day properly. It is worth paying a little more for an awesome album. After all, the photography is going to live on and be your families heirloom. Its not the kind of album you will purchase twice typically. 

Q: Can I add more pages and images to my album?

A: Yes, absolutely. 

Q: Does your studio provide custom framing?

A: Yes, the studio is equipped to provide competitive custom framing. If you are wanting something custom framed, I would recommend to go with me because I will already have the portrait to frame and can guarantee my work. Once you take your portrait or gallery wrap from my hands and bring it to a custom framer, I will not guarantee it, meaning that if the custom framer damages it in anyway, it will have to be repurchased. The lab will not take back someone else’s errors. My studio has an amazing selection of framing for all styles! I will even come to your home and measure and make sure that whatever wall you are looking to put it on will be the appropriate size needed for your space. 

Q: How do I get started on my wedding album?

A: Once you have purchased your album and after the wedding is over, I will start putting together your album. I used to give the client the choice on what photos they wanted and I no longer do that. I put the whole layout together and after you see it, at that point you can change out any photos that you prefer. My goal with creating the album is to tell the story from start to finish in the best possible way. Sometimes this process on my end can take 4 to 6 hours piecing the whole thing together. To hand a bride and groom 600-2000 photos and say, “Have at it” as as painful as writing out 300 thank you cards. It is very tedious and can get stressful for the couple so I really take that stress out of your hands by doing it this way. 

Q: How do I get started on my engagement album?

A: I will send an email with how many photos I will need for you to pick out. Anywhere from 15-30 of your favorite photos. From there I will retouch anything that you would like for me to focus on. Once all photos are picked out and prepared accordingly, I will order the album. The sign-in album takes about 5-7 days to arrive. 

Q: I want to get custom photo Thank You cards made for after the wedding. Can you do that?

A: Yes! Absolutely. Many people don’t think about photo thank you cards but they are so worth the investment! I have a photo thank you card from a cousin who got married about 10 years ago still in my box of memories. It’s hard to throw out someone’s photo and much easier to throw out a standard thank you. If you are spending money, spend it on something that someone will keep and frame. 

Q: What if I lose my Wedding or Portrait DVD 5 years from now?

A: Give me a call or shoot me an email and I will order you a new one. Depending on the year the price might change because media and products go up in price but I will let you know what the cost will be at the time of request. 

Q: What other products does your studio offer?

A: Prints, Gallery Wraps, Metal Art, Acrylic, Custom Albums of all shapes and sizes, Custom Photo Jewelry, Custom Framing. If you have a special request chances are  I can provide the product. 

IMAGE DOWNLOAD AND LEGAL QUESTIONS

Q: What size can we print our photos up to with our full resolution images?

A: Typically 11×14-16×20 size

Q: What rights do I have to the digital prints?

A: You can print off of your files with any photo lab.

Q: Do you provide the RAW files from my engagement session and/or wedding day?

A: No. Raw photos are not photos. What you receive on USB or DVD are the photo files that I give out. Its very similar to going to a restaurant and loving a meal and asking the chef for the recipe. Although you may love the meal, the chef is not going to hand over his recipe. 

Q: Can I post and share the photos on my Social Media?

A: Yes as long as you give credit to the photographer. 

 

MEETING POLICY QUESTIONS

Q: We live out of town. Is there a way that our family/friends can meet with you?

A: Yes, I will be happy to meet with your family or friends. I would recommend though setting up a Facetime or Skype meeting with your family or friends present so that everyone is on the same page. 

Q: We live out of town. Would you be available to speak with us via Skype?

A: Absolutely! Thank goodness for Skype and Face Time! 

Q: Do you travel to meet clients?

A: If you are local to the area, I would be happy to meet with you in person. If you live in another state and want to meet me in person before hiring me there will be a traveling and lodging fee. I would recommend Facetime or Skype. There might be a possibility for example someone from Asheville will call me and want to meet with me. I might have a trip already scheduled. If I have a pre-trip scheduled, I will definitely let you know so we can coordinate a time to meet face to face!

Q: How do I set up an appointment to meet with you in person and see some of your work?

A: Give me a call on my cell phone at (727) 742-2971 and I would be happy to meet with you at a central location that would be good for the both of us at a time that would be convenient for you. 

PAYMENT  QUESTIONS

Q: How do I reserve you for my date?

A: In order to reserve me for your wedding, I would need a deposit to be paid in order to put you on the official wedding calendar. 

Q: What if I exceed my contract time for our wedding package?

A: If you feel like that you will be needing more time especially as the day draws closer or the day of, feel free to bring cash with you and let me know before the wedding so I can be prepared. 

Q: Is there an additional fee when we pay by credit card?

A: Yes there is a 2.5% added charge

Q: If we cancel the wedding, will we receive our deposit back?

A: Deposits are non-refundable. I would consider a credit for future photography depending on the circumstance. 

Q: Are there any travel fee’s associated with an Engagement Session/Wedding Day?

A: It depends on the location. We would have to discuss together when we plan out your session. If the session is local there would be no additional costs. 

Q: I only need your wedding photography services for two hours, can you accommodate me?

A: Yes. I can accommodate any amount of wedding hours. 

Q: I saw your work online and love your style; however, I live out of state. Will you fly here to photograph my wedding?

A: Absolutely! Depending on where you live you might actually save a little money. People assume that with Destinations that it will cost more money but I have save brides a couple thousand dollars by hiring me instead of hiring a photographer in the destination that they are going to be getting married at. 

Q: I’m having a Destination Wedding out of the country and would want you to be my photographer. Do you offer Destination Wedding Coverage and if so, what types of collections do you offer?

A: Absolutely. I would love to photograph your wedding out of the country. Based on what you would need I would construct a custom package for you based on your needs and than add on travel expenses and lodging. As far as lodging goes. I’m a HUGE FAN of Airbnb and in most cases can find beautiful places to stay at the fraction of a hotel cost which will save you money. 

Q: Do you offer any discounts on weekday weddings, Sunday weddings, or weddings during the off-season?

A: If you call me at the last minute and say that you need a photographer and I happen to be available there will be a discounted price. I do not encourage you to wait until the last minute, especially if you want me because if I’m booked, you will be disappointed. It is better to plan ahead but sometimes weddings are spur of the moment for some people or the planning is at the last minute or their photographer bails out on them. I don’t offer different pricing for different days but i’m happy to discuss further the details with you and see if there is any way I can save you money!
